Virtual Switch failed to start

Source: microsoft.public.mac.virtualpc
Sent: 11/01/2008
From: (email address - cut out)
Message:

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I did search for this but none of the results actually mention it. (Some search engine!)

I'm running 6.1.2 on MacOS 10.4.11. This problem has been happening since I installed VPC some years ago and has continued through OS and VPC updates.

When I start up, I get the message:

"The permissions for support files are correct, but Virtual Switch failed to load.

Please report this problem to Microsoft (Code: 1000). Virtual PC will run without Virtual Switch networking."

1. How am I supposed to "report this to Microsoft"? There is no email or other method that I can find. I did try in the past to contact "support" through a general suggestions email address but never heard back.

2. This bug apparently prevents me from using my networked printers and is thus very annoying.

Is there any way to get MS to actually pay attention and fix this?

No, I am not going to update to VPC 7 because I only need this environment for a very few things and it isn't worth it to me to pay more for it.
