Newbie Needs Help Downloading Programs

Source: microsoft.public.mac.virtualpc
Sent: 03/17/2007
From: (email address - cut out)
Message:

I am having difficulty using Virtual PC to download aprogram to my
iMacG5. Someone at Microsoft helped me download one Windows-based
program the other day, which works OK.
But it evidently will cost me $35 if I call or email Microsoft again.
Here's the problem:

I have already created a virtual machine. Clicking on its icon on the
dock brings up a screen labeled Virtual PC list. The icon labeled
"Windows XP Home Saved" is highlighted. If I click on "start up" on
this screen I get the following message (on a blue screen):
-----------------------------
"The following list shows the existing partitions and unpartitioned
space on this computer.
Use the UP and DOWN ARROW keys to select an item in the list.

. To set up Windows XP on the selected item, press ENTER.

. To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press C.

. To delete the selected partition, press D.

15360 MB disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi (MBR}

C: Partition 1 (FAT 32) 15359 MB < 14138 MB
free>" (this line is highlighted)

-------------------------------

If I hit the ENTER key I then get another blue screen which reads:

"You chose to install Windows XP on a partition that contains another
operating system. Installing Windows XP on this partition might cause
the other operating system to function improperly.

CAUTION: Installing multiple operating systems on a single partition
is not recommended.
To learn more about installing multiple operating
systems on a single computer, see

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/multiboot.asp using
Internet Explorer.

. To continue Setup using this partition, press C.

. To select a different partition, press ESC."

_______________

The problem is that I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing. I
had thought that using VPC was simply a matter of clicking on its icon
to open up Windows on my Mac, and then downloading Windows programs.

Any help which someone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Many
thanks!
