Message:VPC 6 is not supported on Tiger, VPC 7 is. The most noticable
improvement in VPC 7 is the ability to run on a G5 processor. Not all of
VPC 6's networking functions work on Tiger, specifically shared
networking. There is no supported patch or workaround other than using
bridged networking.
VPC 7 has performance improvements on a G4 that are slightly noticable
over VPC 6, obviously this depends on your apps and usage patterns.
VPC 7 has other minor tweaks and bug fixes.
Again, if you ever plan to move to a G5 processor VPC 6 limits that choice.
Other than the above, VPC 6 is functional yet unsupported on Tiger. The
two versions are otherwise similar so the choice is yours.

Message:My own experience with VPC 6 on iBook G4 with Panther and VPC 7 on
PowerBook G4 with Tiger showed that VPC 7 is MUCH more reliable. VPC 6
used to crash once every 2 or 3 months.

If you do not need to access resources in a network environment (like

you, especially if you can get a deal on it.
If it was me, I would take the deal with VPC 6 and then obtain the VPC
7 Upgrade if necessary. The upgrade is only around $70

You can buy the upgrade wherever VPC is sold.

Yes.....................the minimum requirements are a 700Mhz
processor, 512 MB of RAM and at least 3GB of free disk space.
