Problem with Steve Jain"s Precompactor process

Message:

People,
I am trying to reduce the size of my VM. I read with interest the recent
thread posted by Petula on Precompactor issues and I also did a search
for the process suggested by Steve Jain on how to use Precompactor. I
followed the steps in Steve's modified procedure. Everything goes as
expected until I get to step 25.

On my version of VPC (7.0.2) running on an eMac with OS 10.2.8, there is
no "browse" button in the Virtual Disk Assistant. At the Select a PC
window of the VDA I see two selection boxes, one for PC and one for
Disk. There is one entry in each (I only have one VM) but no "browse"
button.

In step 26 I see no "Compact the Disk" selection. All I get is the Disk
Image Information window asking if I want to convert to a fixed size
image or reclaim zeroed disk space. If I select the latter, it starts to
run but fairly quickly stops dead because there is not enough disk space.

In step 27 there is a mention of using a secondary file to compact the
disk. I would like to try this but how is it done? At what point do you
"select a New File, browse to a new location and click "next"?

What am I missing or doing wrong?

John
