I just purchased VPC 7 to use on my 20" iMac (pre intel version) using
10.4.6 in order to access "Flashtalk", which is an internet based
application designed for conference calling. I can't seem to get VPC7
to recognize the audio input from either the native iMac microphone or
the mic attached to a USB headset. With the USB mic/headset plugged
directly into the iMac VPC7 recognized the USB device, and I can
receive Flashtalk audio through the headset, but the Flashtalk
"microphone" tests fail. Anyone have any idea how to configure VPC7 to
make either microphone functional? Thanks.

Thanks Dee. . .unfortunately the teleconferencing software in use by
the various participants is Flashtalk only which is Window's specific.
As clarification it is teleconferencing, not video conferencing, but I
still need audio input in order to participate. I really don't want to
buy a Window's machine, hopefully someone else has a suggestion with
VPC7. . .surely if VPC7 recognizes the USB headset, and I can hear
Flashtalk with that headset, there must be a way to enable audio input?

USB 1. Your USB headset may be a USB 2.0 device or the software doesn't
recognize USB 1.

I don't see any other option for you than to find a MacOS
teleconferencing solution that works with Flashtalk or use a PC.

emulates isn't very good. I don't know if it can emulate any sort of
sound in hardware.

My best guess is "try it and return the software if it doesn't work,
which it may not."

there's disc I/O, but it should be adequate for speech.
