i have some video files that i have downloaded into virtual pc using
tivo to go and i want to get them onto my mac so i can access them and
burn them using toast. Do i need to or is there a way i can access the
files from my mac?

ideally, i would like to put them onto my ipod, but i think i have to
burn them first to get rid of the security on the files?

IIRC, simply burning a TIVO recording will not remove any security.

Create a folder on the Mac. Then when in VPC, use Drives->Share Folder
and select the folder and assign it a drive letter. Then you can go to
My Computer and select that drive to access the shared folder. You can
also put an alias to the shared folder on your PC desktop, to make it
easier to get to.

You can create a virtual drive (eg a d: or e: drive in VPC) that can be
opened and managed with OS X Finder (unlike a c: drive). As I have
indicated before, some Windows apps cannot use the z: shared drive that
VPC Additions enables. See:

Just double click on the file from Finder and it will mount the volume
on the desktop (mine is named Connectix !). This can then be browsed and
managed with Finder. Although VPC will start up it does not load a
virtual machine (ie Windows).

Im getting closer, thanks for your help. I can now access my files that
are on my virtual pc from my mac, but now i when i go to open them,
they are in unsupported format, i tried to burn them but it wouldnt let
me do that either. teh file is tivo format.

lines. Does anyone know anything that could be the problem, and also,
there must be some kind of answer to using a mac with tivo, what does

Because unless you can do that (I haven't tried), then
you're wasting your time.

And to get it to your iPod, QuickTime has to be able to
translate it unless TiVO have a QuickTime codec that allows
the Mac to read from TiVO-encoded titles. Because the iPod
only understands H.264 format under certain encoding
parameters.

Incidentally, you could get an H.264 reader for Windows,
but due to Virtual PC's performance, you may not be successful
there either.
