Feeding CD after Save State before 100% saved hangs Mac

On a Mac mini with Tiger 10.4.4 and 7.0.2 feeding a CD after ending the
only active VPC machine with Save the changes (after allowing Undo) but
before the save reaches 100% hangs the Mac as well as the VPC machine,
next VPC access needs OS install (gets boot message).

My guess is the VPC software still tries to capture the CD despite the
obvious VPC session end.

Has anyone else had this problem? This seems an easy to fix problem,
but easy to encounter for anyone trying to save machine document after
VPC end.

The CD feed turned out to be a red herring. (However, I have a
suggestion for VPC developers - treat the saving of disk updates like a
critical database commit operation, and do it by building a new file,
then renaming the old file to "backup" and the new file to the proper
name, then delete the old file; this way VPC can be a LOT safer from
crashes - up until the final delete the user could still go back to the
old virtual machine.)

Problem was identified when I built another virtual machine; when
saving (as opposed to discarding) updates - via the shut down, save
state PC menu option - the Mac crashed, this time with a log that said
the problem was a bad index file entry inside Toast 7 - why this would
cause VPC to crash baffles me, but after updating Toast (required an
hour finding out Roxio "accidentally" switched Toast CD key with TSID,
for which I had to register name and email to discover (cynic in me
suspects deliberate action) when the "how do I find my CD key" html
link SHOULD have shown the key format and told the user how many
characters such a key contains so I could have immediately figured out
for myself that the two lines were switched.)
