Virtual Switch Networking could not be started

I've installed Virtual PC 7 on my PowerBook G4. Each time I run VPC I
get this error message:

Virtual Switch Networking could not be started. Permissions are set
correctly, but Virtual Switch failed to load. Report this error to
Microsoft (Code:A1004).

I've searched for this error message and code in the Microsoft
Knowledge Base with no luck. I can't find any way to get support from
Microsoft without paying for it, which hardly seems fair since I just
paid $500 for the dang software.

I'm trying to use a VPN connection and access shared server files at my
employers location using VPC. It's not working, and I think this
absence of Virtual Switch Networking could be my problem.

Any thoughts?

Currently, the primary reason for, this error is due to not having Virtual
PC updated to the latest version while attempting to use it in the Tiger
version of Mac OS X, 10.4.x.

All you need to do is shutdown Virtual PC fully. Go to
http://www.microsoft.com/mac on the Mac side and choose Downloads -> Virtual
PC for Mac Version 7.0.2 update.

Once the update is downloaded complete the installation of it and the issue
you are having will go away.

At this point you can then go into PC -> PC Settings -> Networking -> and
set it to Virtual Switch.

Your issue should be fully resolved at this point.

I have downloaded the VP 7 and still, I get the same response. It's driving me insane. It was working the other day fine and then just one day just started not working. I need help!!

I tried this and it worked for me.

I started the installation for virtual pc 7.
when it restarted and the errors came up and went ahead and fixed them.
when the message came up to call microsoft, I closed message and ran the 7.0.2 upgrade.
when the upgrade finished...all was good in the world.
