Missing virtual machine

I hope that somebody can help me. I installed a printer on my
powerbook G4 and then tried to print something from my virtual pc. It
didn't work so I restarted my whole computer. After that, when I tried
to boot up virtural pc it brings up the window to set up a new virtual
machine. Is there anyway to recover all of my PC data? The start menu
is still in my dock with all of the applications for the pc but nothing
starts up. HELP!!!

You either moved your virtual machine to a different location or
removed it from your computer. Go to
Users\yourusername\documents\virtual pc list
Your virtual machine should be in the virtual pc list folder. If not,
do a search for it and place it in that folder. Then launch VPC

Thanks for your help. I'm assuming that since there is nothing listed
in my virtual pc list that it is gone? There's no hope of recovery of
the data that was there? I was hoping that there was a folder on my
hard drive that held all of the data so that I could copy into a new
pc. Any suggestions on how to keep this from happening again? I
didn't see anything in the trash that looked like it could help.

Great that you "found it" (your VM image). Once you have it working
properly make a backup of this file. See tips at:
http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/aoaug/mac_osx.html#vpc
My preference is to split data from programs by creating a "d" drive. In
this way the image files should not grow too big for backing up to DVD.

The three most important tips for VPC are: backup, backup, backup!
