Has anyone heard how VPC will run on these new machines? I've also heard
that there is nothing to stop one from running Windows on them as well. Now
wouldn't that be cool! I guess the next thing to expect would be a way to
switch between XP and Tiger...

machines.
Without the CPU emulation code, future VPC (when?) would run much
faster.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. VMWare is working on an osx86
version according to their CEO awhile back, not to mention the Qemu
patch that takes it from an instruction emulator to something more
along the lines of VPC/VMWare.

Surely someone is hoping to be "out-the-door" first in that bunch.

And when exactly did Microsoft say this? Do you have any proof of this?

They said it at the Macworld show yesterday. I read it in one of the
millions of show recaps on the web (see Google). They didn't say it
wouldn't EVER run in rosetta, however, common sense would say that they
aren't going to make a 7.0.3 version just to support what would
effectively be x86->ppc->x86 translation.
