I have tried to install a few anti-virus programs in VPC but have
experienced problems.

What programs would you recommend ?

I would prefer free programs but would also consider paid ones as long as
they perform well and are problem-free. My latest copy of Symantec's
Anti-virus doesn't work under VPC (the version I have is one version prior
to the latest one).

Avast! and AVG are popular with VPC users. By the way, VPC refers to the
application that manages your virtual machines. The correct term for the
virtual machines is Guests. You would install an antivirus program in a
guest. Just so you know.
