Applications not installing successfully.

Dear group members:

I have recently experienced a few issues while trying to install software in
Virtual PC.

The software I've tried to install are Norton AntiVirus 2004 and Dorland's
Medical Dictionary.

I've tried to install Norton AntiVirus to protect my computer as it is my
understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong) that having anti-virus
installed on the Mac does not provide protection when one is accessing the
Internet directly from within Virtual PC. As I place the disk on the drive
the set up windows opens giving 4 options but as I click on setup or install
nothing happens. Do you know if there are compatible issues between Virtual
PC and this version of NAV ? In case there are, what is the best anti-virus
software to install under Virtual PC and is it really necessary ?

The Dorland's Medical Dictionary is a html/browser based medical dictionary
that aside from providing the most comprehensive description for all medical
terms, also provides the proper pronunciation for the word through the
computer speakers as you click on a determined word. In this case the
installation seems to be done without any major problem. Towards the end of
the installation process a window opens giving me three options from which I
choose option 3 - the option is to (1) install a smaller database to save HD
space but be forced to run the dictionary with the CD in the drive or (2)
install a larger database but become independent as the CD no longer needs
to be in the drive as the database with all medical terms and associated
information is copied to the drive. The only problem is that there aren't
many placed I can go to.

Any ideas and input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Joseph Chamberlain, D.D.S.
