Problem installing Virtual PC 7 on Mac OS 10.4.3

Source: microsoft.public.mac.virtualpc

From: "Jeff Merrick" <(email address - cut out)>
Message:

I recently purchased a PowerBook G4 and Virtual PC 7 w/ Windows XP Pro.
I ran into the problems installing Virtual PC. Here was the series of
events.

1) Updated my Mac to Mac OS 10.4.3
2) Started installing Virtual PC 7 w/ Windows XP Pro.
3) Installation proceeded fine until I was asked to restart my Mac.
4) After reboot, the following messages popped up (the exact text might
be slightly different)
a) Startup items folder /Library/StartupItems does not have the
proper security settings
b) Startup items folder /Library/StartupItems/VirtualPCOSServices
does not have the proper security settings
c) Virtual Switching Network could not be started -- correct
permissions for startup files but Virtual Switching failed to load
d) report to Microsoft -- Code A10004. Virtual PC for Mac will not
run without Virtual Switching Networking.
5) I continued with the installation to the end because there wasn't an
easy way to abort it.

I now know about the 7.0.2 Virtual PC Upgrade that is needed for Mac OS
10.4.3. But my question is whether it is all right just to install
that on top of the Virtual PC version that I currently have given the
above errors.

Alternatively, I suppose one could reinstall the earlier Mac OS X, then
install my version of Virtual PC 7, then update to Mac OS X 10.4.3, and
finally install Virtual PC 7.0.2. Is that a preferable way to go?
Backing up my existing Mac data is no problem.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff
