Hey everyone,
I haven't seen this topic addressed yet (I'm still searching through
the posts)...
I received purchased VPC 2000 Prof - OOPS. I really meant to purchase
VPC XP Prof. My bad. Besides, the Apple store didn't have XP Prof -
just XP Home.
I'm wondering if I could purchase Win XP Prof upgrade separately and
upgrade it inside the 2000 Prof VPC. That would be AWESOME!

Any ideas? I hate to re-purchase VPC XP Prof (app. $250 US).

Absolutely. Upgrades within VPC work just the same as if you had a
standalone Intel box. I'm running XP Home on VPC 7 that is an upgrade
from Win98. Upgrade away. ;)

If you can, try to do a clean install, though. A lot of times, upgrades
can leave a lot of stuff laying around from the earlier version, which
may or may not affect VPC performance but could certainly eat up
unnecessary disk space. I believe when I upgraded from Win98 I was
given the option of not keeping any legacy OS stuff, but I can't
remember for sure. If WinXP Pro gives you this option then definitely
use it.

Yes, it should work. However, just about any person who's done tech
support will tell you that you should never upgrade from one OS to
another, and instead do a clean install.

For what it's worth, you *should* be able to return it. If the Apple
store won't accept it back, Microsoft offers a 30 day money back
guarantee on Virtual PC for Mac.
