I've looked everywhere I knew to see if anyone else has been having
this problem. I can't use the shortcut key Command-escape to pause my
virtual pc anymore. I've tried screwing around with the preferences,
but it's just not working. I have no idea if it has anything to do
with the 10.4.3 update, but I think not since no one else has
complained about this problem.

I can confirm this. It doesn't happen in 10.4.2, but does happen in
10.4.3. Selecting "Pause" from the PC Menu still seems to work.

You can set another key sequence for "Pause" and "Resume"
by using the Keyboard Shortcuts tab of the Keyboard and
Mouse preferences.

Create a new set of shortcuts for Virtual PC by clicking
on the "+" button, and adding keyboard shortcuts for the
"Pause" and "Resume" commands in the Virtual PC application.

You'll find that the system will accept most (but not all)
combinations -- try Option-Command-` instead of the
default Command-Escape. This is the one I use.
