I still haven't had a crash while running VPC7 after upgrading to Tiger
10.4.3. If users are still experiencing crashes then it could be a RAM
or hard disk fault.

While waiting for the Tiger fix I did some more research on alternatives
to VPC for running ancient DOS programs (eg Open Access 4).

OA4 runs well in Dosbox, a DOS games emulator, but there is no facility
to print from Dosbox. I recently found that Mac Classic users had the
same problem - they could not print while running Classic under OS X.
Their solution was to use the OS X Folder Actions scripts:

In brief, create a folder that is accessible to your Dosbox/Classic
application and OS X. Assign a script action to that folder which sends
any newly added files to the default OS X printer then deletes the file
from the folder (in effect, it is a crude print spooler). Now just send
text (ASCII) or postscript files to that folder from your application
and it should be automatically printed.

I mention this on a VPC forum because:
a) some users might be trying to run DOS apps under VPC/XP with mixed
success and Dosbox is a promising alternative
b) the same technique should work if you are having difficulty printing
from VPC

There's an unofficial patch that adds printing support to DosBox. It
doesn't allow DosBox to print to the printer directly tho, IIRC it
prints to .png.

The patch is available on the DosBox sourceforge project page if you or
someone else wants to compile it into the OSX build of DosBox.

It hasn't been included into official DosBox CVS since it's not
directly game related.

Yes - I tried playing with that patch but couldnt get it to work. I am
currently modifying my DOS app to have the option of printing to a file
loacted in a monitored folder.
