If I am using "Shared Networking" with VPC7/XP and only connect
securely (through Quicken) to sites to download transactions - Am I
vulnerable to spyware and/or viruses? No email, no web browsing and no
downloading apps - simply using Quicken.

I ask because VPC is slow enough and I would like to remove some
overhead.

You are still vulnerable. The risk is a lot less than if you visited more
sites, but a firewall and virus protection in the guest is still advisable
(the firewall for stealth).

The stealth aspect should be provided via shared networking already. I
agree wholeheartedly with a need for AV software.
