VPC2007 in w7, correct? I'm looking to migrate one of my machines from XP to w7/64,
and don't want to lose the ability to create new VMs based on that older set of
additions.

I guess I'm a little unclear, as well, on whether I even need to (or should?)
install VPC2007 in that OS, or if it just comes with the system. It appears I
should be grabbing the latest from

Hmmmm, I always had to install them in 2007 whenever I built a VM. But there were
some, like older DOS/9x VMs, that just ran better with the 2004 additions IIRC.

That's not correct. You need to install VM Additions in VMs for both
VPC2004 and 2007. The process to do this is nearly identical. Both
VPC2004 and VPC2007 included Additions for supported OSes on an ISO.

You are correct, Steve, the additions were included in VPC2004 and are
included in VPC2007. And, one still has to install them in 2007.

Since I have older systems with processors that don't support
Virtualization, can't say, Karl. Perhaps the 'experts' will chime in ?

One thing I can say ... VPC 2007 runs fine on Windows 7 although it's
not 'officially supported'. Heck, it even Vista runs well on it <eg>

Significantly? Depends, on what you're doing.

You do get USB, and you get the ability to take advantage of mutliple
cores/CPUs. Since WindowsVPC is based on Virtual Server, instead of
VPC, if you run multiple VMs they can each run in a separate thread on
a separate core. With VPC2007, all VMs ran in 1 thread on 1 core.
