Message:I've had the same problems running Windows 7 on VirtualBox. My machine runs
Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I believe I also had the same problems with the
32-bit version of Windows 7 on Microsoft Virtual PC. I have been unable to
fix the problem although I know Vista fairly well.

Message:You need to setup the Virtual Machine as if it were a Vista installation,
that way it get the Vista sound card emualtion instead of the Sound Blaster
16 ISA card emulation.

That as well as remembering that the default sound for the system

been able to see anything more then yellow marked items in Vista's or
the XP mode's own device manager while anything played on a media player
or any sound assigned to a function is still heard.

Why am I not in the least surprized? As I was trying to point out
earlier the problem is common. But no one said it was mission impossible
to solve! If you install Windows enough times you'll run into this quite
often where the drivers may need simply a little "encouragement"? in
order to go on fully. :D

Message:I solved the problem.
1.
I fired my Vista machine
2.
I found out that oem2.inf is a driver's inf I was looking for.
3.
I started Windows7 machine and updated troubled multimedia audio driver
using oem2.inf file.
Bingo!
I have sound now.

Message:oem2.inf is a key to solve the multimedia problem on guest.
I wonder, why no one from the vpc gurus came in with that solution.
Are we still learning?
