Trouble installing VP2007 on Vista 64 Ultimate

I have a brand new computer running Vista 64 Ultimate. The specs are as
follows:

Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @3Gz
eVGA 8800GT 512Mb
Kingston ValueRAM 4GB DDR2-800

I downloaded the 64bit installer and tried to run it. It looked like the
installation was proceeding correctly, but eventually it just seemed to stop
working. There was no error message, and the progress bar was sitting there
at about 90%. I noticed my network adapter was turned off, so I assume that
the installer was trying to add the VP2007 network driver, and it just froze.
Again, there was no error message. After waiting for 30 minutes, I had to
manually reset the computer, and then perform a system restore to get
everything uninstalled.

I wonder if there is an issue with the installation of the network driver,
or if there is something wrong with shadow copies and VP2007.
