VPC 2007 Network problem

I am running VPC 07 on WinXP/SP2 with all latest updates. I was running VPC
fine up until recently. Now the network will not work on the clients which
are WinXP/SP2, Another XP, Vista and Ubuntu.

I have tried direct, manual, DHCP, removed and/or disable all firewalls on
the host PC but no luck. Finally I reinstalled VPC but no luck there either.

I could ping the router from a VPC client but could not even connect to the
router via HTTP, I could ping the host PC but thats about it. Now that I
reinstalled, the client adapers show ! sign, won't repair and ipconfig
variations do not repair either. Any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks.

I did the following;
1. From the VPC console, I changed the network from Realtek to Not Connected
2. Booted the VPC client which is XP
2.a. Of course there was network, shut back down
3. Changed it back to Realtek
4. Booted the VPC client which is XP
4.a it could not get any address from router
4.b I assigned an IP & DNSs manually
4.c. I could ping the host machine or any other machines on the network. I
could also ping the DNS IP addresses as well as the IP address of google.com
The problem seems that it is not resolving domain names. I can not ping
google.com or any domains unless I enter their IP address.
5. Even if I enter the IP address of google.com in Internet explorer, it
comes back with "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" So in addition
or together with DNS resolution, entering IP address of destination in a
browser does not work either.

While doing all this I disabled all firewall, antivirus applications.

Any further suggestions? Thank you for help Carlos.
