I have used the vmc several times and now when I try to start it the vitural
PC consoled shuts down after a few minutes. I don't get any error messages.
I tried to ping the machine but it isn't recongized because it hasn't been
added to the domain. Does it have to be? If so, then how did it work before?

Any help will be greatly approciated.

The virtual machine files (.vmc and .vhd ) were copied from a co-workers
external drive to a network folder. I installed Virtual PC 2007 on my
laptop and added the virtual PC to the list in the application/console. I
was able to use the files several times like this but now it just minimizes
the application when I try to start the vpc from the Virtual PC
console/application. When I try to navigate to the icon in the system tray,
it disappears before I can click on it. I don't have enough space on my hard
drive to store the files locally.

I am not surpised that this doesn't make any sense to you because it is very
bizaar.

What do your event logs say? Is VPC crashing? Does the VirtualPC.exe
file show up in Task Manager?
How does the VM appear in the VPC List? Does it say saved , not
running, etc?

The icon in the system tray is just for the application, it's only
there if VPC is minimized, otherwise it should be in the taskbar. The
VM, if it's running, should also show up in the taskbar.

To be clear, when I say VPC, I am referring to the Virtual PC 2007
application, a VM is the virtual machine that VPC runs.

Is anyone else trying to use the VM from the network? Have you
verified you still have access to the network share or mapped drive,
and the necessary permissions on the .vmc, .vhd, .vsv, and .vud?

What is the host OS and VM OS?
