Hello,

I just put Virtual PC 2007 on a Dell Optiplex GX270. I loaded Windows XP as
both the host and guest operating system. On my Virtual Machine it can't
find my audio or video drivers. I found out after poking around that these
are "virtual drivers" and not the same drivers as the host hardware. My
question is how can I find the correct "virtual drivers" for my hardware?

If you look under the Device Manager the Display adapters will show "VM
Additions S3 Trio32/64" and the Sound, video and game controllers will show
"Sound Blaster 16 or AWE32 or compatible (WDM)." Be sure you have installed

Hello,

Thanks for the posts and advice. I didn't even think about the addons and I
even had that documented somewhere. I tried it and the video was corrected
right away but it took uninstalling the audio from device manager and a few
reboots to get the audio to work but all is fine now. Thanks again!

You haven't got it quite right. What you really have in a vm is virtual
hardware. The vm does not see the "real" video card in your host machine. It
sees the emulated card in the vm. If you install the Virtual Machine
Additions you should get video ans sound working, but it will not load the
drivers for your "real" hardware into the OS on the vm.
