DOS622 on VPC2004

Message:

VPC 2004 is supposed to support DOS as guest. OK it does.
But:
after the installation, I am bound to use the national keyboard layout of my
computer, which is swiss (sg) or german on the other computer (gr).
The keyboard suppoert ist set in the DOS the usual way, but the transport of
the signs from the keyboard to the screen on the VPC guest seems to be
somehow incomplete.
For example when I want enter c:\
I am getting c:^\
This is nonsense for the DOS and so I am not even able to copy files from
one dir to other etc.
When I open the dos editor (edit), the characters are even interpreted again
an other way, some dos graphic signs this time.

Is this something it is known and how can this be corrected?

BTW: on such DOS installed w3.1 works gain somehow correctly as far as
characters are concerned.

However, when word6.0 is installed on this guest w3.1, in most cases it says
not enough memory when trying to open the word. Then mostly word.exe will
cause GPF. Sometimes word 6 will start and run quite normal too, but I have
to try many times.

I have asigned 70mb harddrive (fixed size) and 20mb ram in the VPC for this
guest. This must be far to enough.

Is the support for DOS/w.31 limited in some way?
