Can"t update Windows or install IE6 in Win2000 Guest PC

I tried to follow a previous thread and update to IE6 in order to update
Windows 2000 guest, but I keep getting an error message saying that I don't
have permission to update Windows XP and to sign in as an administrator and
try again. However, I AM signed in as an administrator in both the Win2000
guest AND my XP Pro host PC.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
