Hi:

I have Vista Home Premium Edition and wish to run multiple operating
systems on my computer. I am seeing this is impossible. Microsoft has a
product, Virtual PC 2007, but I am reading that it does not work with Home
Premium Edition.

Can you please tell me how I can make multiple operating systems work with
my system. I am going to The Chubb Institute for Computer Networking and
Security and need to be working with other systems and platforms, Vista is
stopping me.

Please help!!!!

You are reading that VPC is not supported on Vista Home Premium, not that it
does not run. It does run. "Not Supported" means that Microsoft will not
give you technical help for any problems you encounter. VPC is supported by
MS on Vista Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate. However it runs on all
editions. When you install you will see an advisory message about VPC not
being supported but that is not an error message and clicking past the
message allows the program to install.

where I can use multiple OS's upon Bootup or the option to install them.
When I do install multiple OS's without the Virtual Pc, I can not even get to
the point of even a dual boot up also. I do not know what the problem is? I
will re-try what you said. Can you advise anything else?

If you are talking about dual booting VPC you do not need to do that. All
you do is install the operating system inside a new virtual machine just
like you would any other physical computer. You can have many virtual
machines, each with its own operating system. Post back what the guest
operating system is that you are trying to install and what steps you are
taking so we can tell where the confusion is.

I have installed the software and have watched your video on how to use this
product. I have created a VMC file for win server 2003, but it does not give
me the option to install the OS to run it.

When i watch your video it should have given me a drop down list of OS's to
choose and I do not get this option. Maybe I am doing something wrong, But I
can not figure this out and it is driving me nuts.

I need to run multiple OS's for School, and I really need this to wok.. HELP!

The same way you install on a real machine. You capture the installation
media with the drive in VPC and restart the machine. What operating system
are you installing? If Win95/98/ME you will need to use the Setup floppy to
prep the hard drive and then install from the cd. If Win2000 or later,
simply capture the cd or dvd with the emulated drive (use the drop down menu
in the lower left to capture the physical drive) and restart the vm. Post
back what OS you are installing.

Compatibility is not the issue. The advisory message is simply a warning
that MS does not give technical assistance for VPC when used on a Home
edition. It has nothing to do with actually running the software. When you
click past the advisory message it installs and runs normally. Your
selection of XP compatibility had no effect since it runs anyway.

When you see the advisory message that VPC is not supported on the operating
system you are running (Vista home editions) simply click the OK button (I
didn't say anything about a right click) and let the installation of VPC
continue. I don't remember the wording of the button precisely, but just
acknowledge the message and don't cancel the VPC installation.
