Fedora updates - now no mouse support

This was originally posted in some RedHat NG's, now I realise I should have
posted here too.

I am trying Fedora Core 6 in a VM created with MS Virtual PC in Windows
Vista.

After some mucking about, finding a way to get the graphical installer and
UI going, I got it working. The first time I logged in, I was informed that
there were 255 updates waiting to be installed. So I let it install them.
[There was no way I was going to go through checking whether I wanted all
255, so I just let it do the lot]. When the machine rebooted, I had no
mouse support. [The physical mouse (and keyboard) is a wireless USB device
from Logitech, I'm not really sure how and with what connection they have
been virtualised, and it/they worked ok on the initial install and before
the updates].

Now I'm a bit stuck. I don't seem to be able to work the GUI without the
mouse at all. [I assume it's not the keyboard that isn't working as it was
ok for typing user names and passwords]. Can you help me get my mouse
back?

If I could use the keyboard to get at a command line it might help. I did
some unix (of some kind or other) just over ten years ago, so I can make
the
shell work a bit. Though I would have no idea where to go or what to do to
get the mouse support back.

If extra info helps you to solve my problem, point me where to find it and
I'll post it.

Thanks.

Neil
