PCI Parallel Port card in a Win98 Virtual Machine

Message:

I am running Virtual PC 2007 6.0.156.0 on Vista Home Premium

My PC does not have an parallel port on the Mobo though there is a mention
of LPT1 in the bios.

I have installed a 1 parallel port and 2 serial PCI card which use the
MosChip MCS9835. Vista itself recognizes this and I have set the parallel
port a s LPT1

This parallel port appears in Device manager. The resources are shown as:

Input/Output Range B800 - B807 not available.
Input/Output Range B480 - B487 not available.

'Use automatic settings' is ticked and I am unable to change the settings.
Is this possible somehow?
I have read that Virtual PC will only use an LPT1 if it is set to use
378-37F.

I have a Virtual machine for Windows 98. In the settings I have 'Physical
parallel port' ticked by LPT1 but nothing is shown in the drop down box.

Is there any way that my parallel port can be made available to applications
in Windows 98?
