i to have the same problem,
Shared folders crash on my windows xp machine and on my Vista machine with virtual pc 2007, i am creating the virtual pc on each machine.
I downloaded two virtual pcs from microsft for test ie6 and ie7, the OS in XP and i can share folders fine with there XP versions.
i have looked to see if there is anything set in there versions and there is nothing special set.
I have found that on my Virtual pc images if I set the machine to better performance in the settings so my display looks like win2k i can access the shared folder without a crash. i cant work out why this happens.
this is really bugging me as having a virtual pc is useless if i cant save my work.

Message:Hi Bill,
I have a home network and I can see this on both my Vista Pc and one of the
XP machines i used.
I created the xp virtual pc on each machine and the problem still excists.
If I right click on the shared folder and go to properties i get a error
ntdll.dll on both machines.
also if i browse i can open the folder i can see the files and folders for 4
seconds before i get the ntdll.dll error.
I have tried different folders same effect. tried firewall on off, and many
other things.
if however I use one of the virtual pc images MS are giving away below.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=21EABB90-958F-4B64-B5F1-73D0A413C8EF&displaylang=en
I can right click on a shared folder and i can get properties and even view
files in the shared folder without a error.
With my virtual files i can do everthing else download updates etc just i
cannot use the share option,
But I found if i go to the virtual pcs and chage the settings for best
performance ie. i can browse the folder without the error but i still cant
perfrom a right click on the file/folder. this is both the same on vista and
xp machines.

Do you still see this problem if you use normal file sharing (as you would
between two physical machines), or does it only happen using the Shared
Folders option in VPC?

You *do* have the VPC2007 VM Additions installed in your guest, right?

Solution: Inside the host go to My Computer > system > properties > performance - settings > Adjust for best performance + OK
After this I had no more crashes when I accessed the Shared Folders in Virtual PC 2007

I use 32 bit Vista as my host and XP SP2 as my guest - same problem.
"you DO have VM additions installed, right?"
Of course, you can't share folders otherwise.
I'm afraid adjusting the visual performance on the host OS does not do anything for the folder sharing crashing problem on my machine. :(
As another said, you can ignore the error and continue to work with the folder but eventually it will crash without asking nicely anymore so that's not an acceptable workaround.
Others have this problem using entirely different virtualization software (VirtualBox) on different Host OS's with XP SP2 as the guest...
Until MS fixes this bug, try the loopback adapter workaround described here:
