Hi,
I'm running Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 SP1 on Microsoft Windows 2000
SP4.

Within VPC I'm running MS-DOS 6.22.

All WordPerfect Office 3.1 for DOS programs work fine, with the
exception of Notebook.

When I start NB.EXE, it says "ERROR: Can't do direct screen display"
and then returns to the DOS prompt.

When I run NB.EXE from a CMD window in Windows 2000, it works with
no problem.

How can I get NB.EXE to work in VPC?

Your program can not see the VPC's emulated display adapter. You still can
use nb.exe to access files on the guest if you network the host and the
guest. Search the "Windows 98 networking" newsgroup for "dos" to locate info
on downloading the required files.

The WP Office manual says that this error message appears when you try to run
NB on "some windowing programs or compatibles" (meaning IBM-compatible
computers). It occurs under Virtual PC with MS-DOS and with Windows 98 DOS
also. My guess - it's only a guess - is that there's something wrong with the
video card emulation in Virtual PC, so it's unlikely this can be fixed until
a new version of Virtual PC shows up.
