Ok, I installed Vista Home Premium within my XP MCE2005 so I could test it
and see how I like it. I was under the impression that everything would work
fine in it, but that is not the case. None of my devices work correctly,
including my wireless card, display, sound card, and many more. I tried
going to Toshiba's website (I have a toshiba notebook) and installing the
vista drivers for all my components but they usually say they didn't install
correctly or they do install but just don't work. For instance, I can't get
the virtual vista to run at 1280x800, which is my notebook's resolution. I
also can't get any sound. Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much?
Please help!!

That depends on your perspective... WinXP MCE2005 is not supported by
Microsoft as a host for VPC 2007, and Vista Home Premium is not supported by
Microsoft as a guest for VPC 2007, though this doesn't necessarily mean that
they won't work... In fact, as I discovered recently, installing Vista Home
Premium in a virtualised environment appears to be in contravention of the
EULA... I'm still awaiting clarification on that...

There have been more than one complaint in this newsgroup that the fact that
VPC *emulates* hardware is not clear enough on the Microsoft site...

You installed Home Premium as a guest OS in Virtual PC, correct? A virtual
machine created in VPC has a limited set of *emulated* hardware. It does
not use or recognize your physical pc hardware with the exception of being
allocated RAM and using the cpu. Everything else is emulated, and does not
require any other drivers. Installing the VM Additions will enable sound
and better mouse control.
