Moving files from XP/Ghost 10 backup to Vista

Message:

I need to access and transfer to Vista some files and folders previously
backed up with Ghost 10 on XP Home system. Having failed by every other
means to install XP on my Dell XPS 410, I installed Virtual PC 2007 and
installed XP. However, I could not get Ghost 10 to run and then to access
files from the DVD drive. I also tried making a virtual HD and then
accessing using the Ghost 10 recovery disk, but I could not run a restore
onto the virtual drive. Nor have I yet been able to get the two systems to
network some place in common onto which I can move files. In short, I am
stymied and frustrated and surely must be doing something wrong.

Would someone be kind enough to explain to me how to use Ghost 10 and
Virtual PC to restore a backup into a virtual drive running Vista?

I would be most grateful.

David
