Vista licensing in a virtualised environment

Can someone "official" please give "official" clarification here...

This is the Vista EULA straight from the Microsoft site:
http://download.microsoft.com/documents/useterms/Windows%20Vista_Home%20Premium_English_d16c019b-fa71-4fc9-a51d-a0621bddb153.pdf

Go to page 11 and look at point 4 under both the HOME BASIC and HOME PREMIUM
sections...

I'm no lawyer, but the sentence "You may not use the software installed on
the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware
system." seems pretty clear to me...

I appreciate that the Basic and Premium editions aren't *supported* on VPC,
but is it actually in direct contravention of the EULA to install them on a
guest...?

One of the main reasons for my purchasing my MSDN subscription was so that I
could use its "install as many copies as you like so long as its for
development and testing" facility, and VPC allows me to do this without the
expense of additional hardware.

If the above EULA is now telling me that this doesn't apply to Vista Home
Basic and Vista Home Premium, I have to say I'll be less than impressed...
