VPC Slows Host Unacceptably

VPC 2007 just slows my PC down something fierce. DOes not do that on my
other machines...is this easily fixed?

Specs of troubled PC are 2.8MHZ Intel Processor w/1gig memory and 250gig HD.
This computer has more than enough horsepower to run this thing but each
time I do, I have to reboot to get the system back to the speed it always is
before I start VPC.
