Message:Edit options.xml file located at %appdata%\Microsoft\Virtual PC folder.
In this file under <window> <console> verify values for
<left_position> and <top_position>. (You can change these to 10,10)
BTW, do you use dual monitor setup? Curious how you got into this situation.

Thank you for this, I had the exact same issue with Virtual PC 2007 running on Windows XP Pro SP2 on my laptop.
I do not use dual monitors, and I have no idea what I did that caused those two values to appear as 4294935296, and 4294935296 in my Options.xml file.
Thanks again,
u2sparky

After reading this post, I went and started Virtual PC on my desktop
computer and it immediately minimized itself with no option to restore.
Where can I find a setting to fix this? I saw nothing in the registry.
I suppose I could uninstall and reinstall.

Message:Thanks.
Now the question is how did those setting get changed. Instead of something
reasonable like 10, they were
<top_position type="integer">4294935296</top_position> and similarly for
left_position.

Message:I dont know either.
I doubt the problem is triggered from anything we are doing. I had the same
huge number appear and unless I am using a 38 foot monitor its a bug.

Message:This happened to me also, VPC console started minimized, and couldnt do
anything with it. Changing the options.xml file worked.
Before I read this post, I found that I could still run an existing virtual
PC by double clicking the .vmc file

Message:True, and you can also click the icon on the sys tray and manage it from
there.

Vinod,
This has got to be a bug.
My host is Win2k3 SP1.
1. I've no special monitor or monitor setup.
2. I do nothing unusual.
3. It's happened to me twice in the past mnth or so.
4. It never happened to Vpc2k4 on the same host.

Same story here:
left_position type="integer">4294935296</left_position
top_position type="integer">4294935296</top_position
It helped to change the values to 10/10 in the "Options.xml" file. (though it was found in this path: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Virtual PC and NOT C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Microsoft\Virtual PC.
I do not use dual displays like in "two monitors at the same time", but I do use MS Virtual PC 2007 on a labtop display AND (when I come home) on my external display...
It might have triggered this? I don't know, but the values "4294935296" are really out of proportions!
Thanks for the answer.
