Greetings all,
Can someone help me figure out how to get my virtual Win98 session to
connect to the the internet?

Host OS: WinXP Pro
- connects to the internet, no problem
- Host IP 192.168.1.102
- Ethernet Adapter - Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
- Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
- DHCP Server 192.168.1.1

Guest OS: Win98 (first edition)
- 1 network adapter, set to "Shared Networking (NAT)"
- COM1 Setting - None
- COM2 Setting - None
- Ethernet adapter - Digital DC21X4 V2.41
** I accepted the defaults for network adapters..didn't see
broadcom
in old driver list..**
- IP Address 192.168.1.108
- Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
- DHCP Server 192.168.1.1

Ping from Host to Guest? No
Ping from Guest to Host? No

Any help/direction is appreciated!

Either set the above setting to your host NIC and not Shared Networking
(NAT) and leave the static IP address, or leave the Shared Networking (NAT)
and set the IP address to automatically assign via DHCP.

There are several ways to go about this, but you need to know what you
are doing and not mix up the methods.

If your host gets its network config from DHCP, you don't need to fiddle
about with anything. If you leave it at the default settings, it should just
work. The guest machine behaves like another machine on the LAN and gets its
config from DHCP, just as the host does. This should work in your case.

Shared Networking (NAT) allows the guest to get Internet access by
sharing the host's Internet connection. Again, you don't need to configure
anything manually. The guest gets its network config from the host. This
setup is limited in what it can do.

You can also use ICS on the host machine, but that isn't required in
your case.
