VPC allows for folder sharing from host to guest - can this be done in
reverse? I would like to store a backup of the host operating system on a
mapped drive to folder on the guest. Is this possible?

Share a folder from the guest using normal networking. But
really, what's the point? If you lose the host OS what good is a
backup in the guest going to do for you?

network connections. Then just save a copy of the whole vhd somewhere.

The purpose was to trick OneCare into doing a backup to a "network" drive.
I'm playing with a stand alone computer - no accessories - no external disks,
dvd writers, no printer, no usb hubs with all their add ons - just me, the
box and a phone line - oh - and OneCare.
My problem might be in not knowing the basics well enough; from my VPC "net
view" sees host and guest, from host "net view" yeilds "the list of servers
for this workgroup is unavailable" . Explorer, microsoft windows network,
workgroup has error message "Workgroup is inaccessible. You might not have
permission...Contact admin...The list of of servers ...is not currently
available"
Sharing a folder on Host to VPC works fine but OneCare will not backup to it.
