Re Virtual PC Security Threats

Please forgive what may be a simple question, but could someone give a
definitive answer to the following:-
1 I set up a Virtual Machine which I will use solely for Internet Access
and Email collection.
2 I permanently share a folder called ‘Email Data’ on drive D of the
actual Hard Disk
3 In the settings in VPC, I enable Undo disks
4 I start VPC and use Robocopy to mirror D:\Email Data to the Email
Data location on the Virtual Machine
5 I connect to the Internet and also collect any Email into VPC which I
check for viruses.
6 On closing my Internet connection and still in VPC, I use Robocopy
to mirror the Virtual PC Email Data folder back to D:\Email Data

The question is - If I then close VPC and do not save changes, if I have
contracted Viruses, Worms Trojans etc whilst Online and as any changes to VPC
have not been enabled on closing, does this mean that my actual operating
system has not been affected by the unwanted intrusions and security has not
been breached.
