Message:Full Vista sound is supported on Vista vm's with the adds supplied with VPC
2007 beta.
fwiw, the terminology for "VPC's" as you are using the term is "virtual
machines". VPC refers to the application. ;)

The other thing I noticed is that audio in the Vista VPC is useless on my
system - it stutters and breaks up consistently. Again, this problem is not
evident in the Windows XP Pro VPC. I expect these will be cleared up when
VPC 2007 is released.
Other than that - the performance of these VPCs is incredible - much faster
than the equivalent VMWare VPCs that I've been using. Good job!

It's possible that it hasn't been fully optimized yet.
VPC2007 is still a beta product. Updated VM Additions may resolve
this when it's released.
Have you guys filed bugs through connect for the sound?

Message:What about the sound. btw, XP and Ubuntu vm's use the SoundBlaster 16
emulated card but Vista vm's do not. There is a different provision for
sound because Vista does not support an ISA bus and the SB emulation is ISA.

Message:Oops - sorry about the naming! :)
Okay - so I understand that it is *supposed* to work, but what I'm saying is
that audio on a Vista Ultimate RTM guest virtual machine on top of Vista
Ultimate RTM host is not working on this machine. i would attach an audio
clip, but if you can imagine what a scratchy record sounds like, you'd get
the idea.
I've also installed Windows XP and Ubuntu in VPC 2007, and the audio works
fine in both of those systems. Are there any particular settings I need to
be aware of? The adds are version 13.724 (at least that's what comes up
during the install).

Message:Good news - the full screen is now working. Not sure what caused the
original issue, but I've rebooted the host several times today and ran the
XP VM in full screen and just tried the Vista VM and it works fine. Sorry
for the drill - but perhaps a reboot after install was necessary.

Message:No difference in sound, unfortunately.
Are there any workarounds? I figured it might be a local driver issue, and
I've got the latest SigmaTel High Def drivers from Dell. They work fine on
the host, but still coming through scratchy in the VM.

I think they're already aware of the problem, but it's a good idea to turn
in a bug so they can tell how many are effected...

Message: I agree with you about sound in Vista on Vista with the VPC 2007 beta.
Running a Vista guest on an XP host the sound is fine. But running Vista
guest on a Vista host, the sound is choppy (even though the sound on the
host is fine). Not sure why, but it certainly happens for me.
