Intel to an AMD CPU may cause problems with the VM's OS.

You should not try to move a VM in a saved state either.

Yes, in nearly all cases. A VM is treated just like a physical
machine. You need a separate license for the VM.

It really doesn't matter if the licenses are the same. A VM needs its
own license.

Strange thing is that I was using a VM with VPC2007 on Vista. I moved
this VM to WinServer 2003. VPC2007 won't install there so I'm stuck
with VPC2004 but my VM was used in VPC2007. Well, I tried it any way
and it opened in VPC2004. Ran with no problems.

Was that expected or normal?

The case depends on whether you're using vpc in your home or work
environment. One of the ways that you can work around the OEM licensing
issue is with a volume license + media. According to Microsoft, as long as
you can verify that you have a valid OEM copy of the OS, you are allowed to
use volume license media to install the OS in imaging situations, i.e.,
Ghost, as well as in vpc environments. You just need to make sure that if
you intend on creating 3 vpcs, you also have 3 volume licenses. The only
caveat to this is that it only applies to the OS. If you have other OEM
branded software, then they would need to be installed separately.
