DirectX & Direct3D Issues

When I start Sims2, this message pops up:

"Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this
system! Please make sure you have DirectX 9.0c... yadda yadda yadda"

Well, I have DirectX 9.0c. So I looked at some of the posts and did not
know about RUN:DXDIAG, so I did it. I went to 'display' and all the DirectX
Features are "Not Available". At the bottom, it says "The system is using a
generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by te hardware
manufacturer" AND "Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify
that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer."

That's great and all that I need to install a "video driver provided by the
manufacturer", but what does that mean? Where do I download this thing and
how can I get the DirectX Features to work so I can use that program?

It would be great if you could help me out. I don't know what basic info
about my computer you need to solve this, but just contact me if neccessary.

VPC isn't a solution for gaming, especially games that require 3D. VPC
emulates all the hardware, except the CPU, and this includes the video
card. The video card in a VM is not the same as what's on your host
PC, it has no hardware 3D support.

Are you trying to run Sims2 on your real (host) computer or inside a virtual
machine (guest)? If in a guest you cannot do it. Guests (vm's) do not use
the video adaptor on the host machine. Guests use an emulated S3Trio64
card. The emulated S3Trio card cannot render 3D graphics.
