I'm running VPC 2007 on Vista (build 5744). I have a VM running XP Pro.
Inside of XP the drive shows a little over 2 GB being used. The
corresponding VHD file is 7.5 GB. I have tried compacting it with the
Virtual Disk Wizard. It doesn't shrink at all. Am I doing something wrong
or is this a VPC 2007 bug?

I had convinced myself that the precompact was part of the compact process.
I guess the "pre" part didn't register. :) I had defragged it. I just
precompacted it, then compacted it and it shrunk from 7.3 GB to just over 4
GB. I'm going to work at a little more, since there's only 2 GB or so
actually being used.
