Unable to select a parent drive in VPC 2004. Possible bug.

I recently had the following experience. Has anyone else seen this or
is there a fix for this issue?

1) Create two diff drives off of the same parent.
2) Move the parent.
3) Open the first diff machine.
4) Select the new location of the parent through the Select File |
Change button.
5) Open the second machine. Get the 'Not enough memory' error. (this
is expected, because my machine does not have enough memory to run
multiple machines at once)
6) Click Okay to close the error message.
7) Close the running (first) machine.
8) Attempt to open the second machine.
9) In the 'Select File' dialog, click 'Change' to locate the parent.
10) Navigate to the parent. Select the parent.
11) Click Open

Nothing happens. The Open button, while enabled, doesn't seem to
register anymore. In fact, this parent drive, while not updated
(timestamp and modification-wise) can no longer be selected as a parent
drive through the Select File | Open dialog.

It's a bit obscure, I know, but I can faithfully reproduce this. Has
anyone else seen this or know of a workaround for this issue?

Many thanks,
-Mezz
