Add new Virt.PC but without wizard...

Hi!

I have .vmc file and .vhd file, so I can add new VirtualPC via wizard:
File->New Virtual Machine Wizard->Add existent virtual machine and so on...
It's OK, but can I do the same "by hand"? Kind of editing ini-file, or may be
key in registry. I know, that I can just dbl-click on .vmc in WinExplorer and
new VirtualPC will be added to console. But what if I have 1000 .vmc/.vhd
pairs? 2K mouse clicks... Sound not so encouraging. So I really need to add
by editing anything config-related.

Just create shortcuts to the .vmc files in the folder:

%AppData%\Microsoft\Virtual PC\Virtual Machines

For example, select all your .vmc files in Windows Explorer, right-click and
choose Copy, then go to the folder above, right-click in an empty area and
choose Paste Shortcut (not regular Paste).

Note that %AppData% is a standard environment variable which typically
resolves to something like:

C:\Documents and Settings\Smarty\Application Data

but depending on your host OS configuration and things like GPO-based Folder
Redirection, it might be elsewhere.

If you want to script this process, you can use the CreateShortcut method of
the WshShell object in Windows Scripting. There is also an
ExpandEnvironmentStrings method which will resolve the path containing
%AppData% for you.
