Is it normal to crash like this?

Message:

I've recently installed Virtual PC on a computer running XP. I've created my
virtual hard drive and under a different name a virtual machine. When I go
to run my vm a pop up box appears, as it would normally do so I suppose, and
in that box it shows me a few options like if my hard drive is connected and
stuff but I can't read it as it changes sooo quickly and not being able to
capture it with a print screen I'm a little unsure as to what it says but
it's probably ok. Then a grey progress bar appears at in the botom half.
Showing how far I've progressed so far, it stops at about 2/3 of it being
complete. No matter how long I wait, it just stays put. I'm running windows
Xp pro with SP2 and VPC has Sp1. Is there anything I can do to help it along?

I've tried pleading with the computer but it seems rather blunt and ignores
my cries! Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks for any suggestions,
Eric
