FIXED: virtual server 2005 error LsaLogonUser() failed!

Hi,

I have installed Virtual Server 2005 on a stand alone Windows 2003
server, so in a workgroup only environment. But when I open the VS
administration Website, I received the error "LsaLogonUser() failed!".

After searching on the Internet I found an issue in one of the news
groups. One of the subscribers (thanks to David Wang) put me in the
right direction.

I fixed my issue by doing the following:
* Open IIS Manager
* Under "Application Pools" access the properties of the "Virtual
Server" application
* On the Identity tab change the predefined security account "Local
Service"
* Click OK and restart the "Virtual Server" application

This did it for me. I hope it will work for you too.

I also had exactly the same error. Your solution did not worked.

What I had to do was this:

Mine was a Windows 2003 Std Server patched to SP2.

During the install of Virtual Server 2005 R2, I had installed/added IIS to my Windows 2003 server.

Problem occured.

Uninstalled Virtual Server 2005.

Uninstalled IIS 6.
Re-installed IIS6.
Re-Applied Windows 2003 SP2.
Installed Virtual Server 2005 R2.

Off it went..errorless.

I followed Jaspel steps and it worked. I only have to change the Local Account to another account with access to be used as Identity account to the Application pool
