Vista RC1 install fails on VPC

Source: microsoft.public.virtualpc

Message:

I have been installing and checking out Windows Vista on Virtual PC 2004 SP1
on XP SP2 with a HP nw8000 with 2Gb RAM. Up until the Pre-RC1 build,
installation worked (albeit with the initial problems of getting the disk
created correctly). I have networking setup as directly connected to both
wired and wireless cards, as this seems to have been the only way to get it
connecting to the network at all.

I am now trying to install RC1 (build 5600) and the installation seems to go
ok until the very last stage (after reboot) which comes up with an error
'unable to configure for this hardware' (or similar) after which it will not
boot at all.

Has anyone else had similar issues - and any ideas how to get the
installation to work for RC1? I have had a look around but can't find
anything specific other than mention of taking out any USB devices (which I
did on the 3rd/4th attempt) and I have also tried switching the network ports
to just one of them connected to the NAT and the other disconnected.

Thanks in advance
