Hello!

I'm trying to create a Windows XP Client on a Windows XP host. I want to
use it for testing installation of software.

I have created a new Virtual Machine and started the installation of
Windows XP. after a while I get a screen showing the existing partitions.
The only partition that is available is the hosts partition

If I select this partition will my data on the host partition be lost?

If so, how can I install a Windows XP Client?

I'm using Virtual PC 2004 (build 582)

Are you certain that your WinXP media isn't being picked up by the host
instead of the guest?

Just make sure you have captured the Windows cd with the Virtual Machine
Console by using the drop down menu for the emulated cd drive (lower left
corner of the Console window). It will offer you the option of capturing
one of the host's optical drives or capturing an .iso file.
