New net adapter or shared network for 98 VM

Message:

Hi All,
I'm working through my first virtual machine install. I have a GeForce
4 motherboard and an XP Pro host OS. I created a virtual machine and disk,
ran fdisk, ran format, and installed 98SE. It all went a little too easily,
until...

The 98 VM says my Intel 21140 network adapter isn't working. In
settings, I set the first adapter for the VM to my host adapter, which is an
nVidia nForce net controller. I assume the 98 install complains about an
Intel adapter because it's the closest thing it knows. At any rate, nVidia
doesn't seem to have a 98 driver for the nForce LAN controller I have.

Does anyone know a workaround for this sort of issue? If there is no
workaround, would I be better to put an old adapter in my host system so the
Win 98 VM will have a port to talk to, or should I use the shared networking?
Ideas? Opinions?

Thanks,
Max
