discarding changes without shutting down

In VMWare I can revert to a saved state after making changes.

I'm currently using Virtual PC version 5.3, and can't figure out how to
accomplish the same thing. I'm sure I must be missing something simple. I
have an undo disk, but in order to discard changes, I have to chose "turn off
and delete changes". There is no way to delete my changes without turning of
the virutal pc. This means I have to wait for it to boot back up the next
time I start it.

Is there any way around this, or some other way to discard my changes
without shutting down?

There has been no change to VPC in this regard. You cannot throw away
changes in a running machine.
